Welcome to the NHK

January 10, 2010 Leave a comment

I just discovered a potential anime craze after seeing it on Animax. But before that, I also found out that they are now airing Bleach. [I’m starting to love Animax!] I can’t say at this point in time that it has a nice story but I can relate myself to it. The story is about a college dropout and unemployed Tatsuhiro Satou. Upon my understanding, he is a nerd. He only goes out once a week, sleeps a lot, and an internet addict. Aside from that, he is also experiencing a feeling of despair. He thinks that what’s happening to him is due to some kind of conspiracy. His theory is that a secret organization called Nihon Hikikomori Kyoukai (NHK) uses cute anime girls to create a society filled with jobless and porn obsessed people. Satou wants to get out of his misery but he can’t because he’s afraid to go out by himself until he met a beautiful girl named Nakahara Misaki. She claims that she can cure Satou.

I’m now updated to South Park

November 13, 2007 3 comments

South Park is an animated comedy series well-known for its toilet humor [meaning it’s not for kids] presenting pop culture parody and political satires. Other countries are being ridiculed in the show too. Oh no! Will it be another Desperate Housewives, The Daily Show, or Jimmy Kimmel Live for Filipinos? I’m now addicted with the show especially that I am almost updated with the regular airings of South Park. Almost because I do not live in America and I only depend on sites that stream South Park episodes [same thing as Bleach anime, I don’t live in Japan… ooops!] so there’s an hour/day delay. Jack TV airs South Park here in the Philippines but they keep on replaying the episodes and they are taking time before they release new seasons. There’s no assurance that I’ll be able to complete the episodes with that. Reason Magazine had an interview with the creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker about downloading their episodes.

Power Rangers SPD

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is one of my most watched TV show when I was a kid and my favorite rangers were Green Ranger and White Ranger. I had a Green Ranger action figure when I was young and there were lots of imaginations running in my mind about Power Rangers at that time.

Strangebrew

October 29, 2007 3 comments

Ang show na may tama. I first saw this TV show when I was about to graduate in high school or maybe during my first year in college. It was first shown in Channel 4 (NBN). It is a reality comedy show, though it also includes scripted sketches. It features Tado as himself and Angel Rivero as Erning (Tado’s driver). They interview various people about their work or ask them how things are made, often in a factory. They also feature different places and they would ask the caretakers or administrators about the place. They ask informative questions on them but due to the nature of the show, they also include silly questions. Some of their overused questions are “If your life story is to be made as a movie, who do you want to be the actor/actress on your role?” another one is “What is your unforgettable experience in your work?” or if they are in a pencil factory, they would ask “If you are a pencil, what kind of pencil are you and why?”. Erning used to speak tama or “correct” in English often in the show as an expression even if she means “alright” or “yes”. Strangebrew is directed by R.A. Rivera.

Bleach

My previous posts are about Bleach anime/manga. You might be asking what the hell is Bleach? Intially it is a story of a young boy named Ichigo Kurosaki and his friends Uryuu Ishida, Rukia Kuchiki, Yasutora Sado, and Inoue Orihime (as shown in the picture, Ichigo is the orange-haired guy followed by the others in clockwise direction, don’t mind the stuffed toy… it’s just Kon LOL!). The adventure begins when Ichigo met Rukia, a Shinigami, which should not be the case because humans cannot see spirits including Shinigamis but Ichigo is exempted for he has the ability to see them. The duties of a Shinigami are to send Pluses (spirits) to Soul Society and to cleanse Hollows (evil spirit) by defeating them. When Rukia was injured battling the Hollow, she was left no choice but to pass half of her power to Ichigo but with his unusual strength, Ichigo absorbed almost all of Rukia’s powers making him a substitute shinigami.

Gotei 13

September 7, 2007 Leave a comment

Gotei 13 is the 13 squads of the Shinigamis in the manga/anime series Bleach. Each division is headed by a Captain, then a Vice-Captain/Lieutenant, and Seated Officers. The Captain of the 1st Squad is also the General of the Gotei 13. The Shinigamis are those who are in kimono armed with a sword (like the guys in Samurai X but the thing is, they all wear black) while their Captains wear an extra white dress with a unique diamond printed at the back that symbolizes Gotei 13. Inside the diamond is the number indicating what squad they belong. The above picture shows the original and the most prominent Captains of the 13 Squads.
